Community Care for Elderly People: a Comparison Study of Medical Care in Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China

Abstract

|
Objective: With the rapid increase in the elderly population, there is a growing interest in elderly care. The objective of this study is to compare community care systems for older adults in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and China.
Method: This study used various databases, including PubMed, to identify community care systems in the four countries. Searches were conducted using various terms such as community care, integrated care, and elderly care, and studies were identified based on exclusion and inclusion criteria.
Results: A total of 77 studies were included in the study. The studies analyzed community care systems in four countries. It focused on healthcare policies and compared the systems and practices of "Discharge Assistance" and "Visiting Healthcare".
Conclusion: In order to provide adequate Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) home healthcare services in community care, it is necessary to raise awareness of TKM practitioners and increase the budget, and this study can be used to formulate more advanced elderly care policies in the future.
